Artist Statement

I grew up in Escondido, and am now raising my daughter as a single mom, in Vista, CA.  I went to California State University Chico, and received a BA in Art Education in 2004.

I have been to over 25 countries, as a teacher, traveler, and student. I currently work full-time with adults with developmental disabilities, and am passionate about bridging the gap of understanding between the community and my clients through creativity.  Painting is a meditative process, and “fills my cup” so that I can share more of myself with those around me.

The “Stained Glass Paintings” are inspired by my travels, imagination, and everyday objects/scenes that inspire and challenge me.  The paintings are done wet on wet style with India ink on stretched watercolor paper. I enjoy the process of choosing colors for the smaller segments (glass pieces), in order to create a large, beautiful whole.  This relates to the challenge of making small, daily choices that make up the whole that is your life—mistakes and all.

I am currently living my dream of selling art and plants full time at Junktion 101
