Year of the Metal Ox 2021

Well here we are...finally...2021, the year of the Metal Ox. The Lunar New Year, most commonly known as the Chinese New Year. This year, February 12, 2021 marks the beginning of the Year of the Ox. The second animal of the Chinese zodiac, the ox denotes the hard work, positivity, and honesty that will be manifested in all of us in the coming 12 months.

It's called the Lunar New Year because it marks the first new moon of the lunisolar calendars traditional to many east Asian countries, which are regulated by the cycles of the moon and sun. The Lunar New Year isn't only observed in China, it's celebrated across several countries and other territories in Asia, including South Korea and Singapore.

In celebration of the Lunar New Year, families gather in their communities and homes to celebrate their good fortune over the past year, and bring in good luck for the new year. Traditionally, families exchange money envelopes, clothes, and plants to symbolize their wishes for good fortune in the future.
